Bag specifications
My Chanel Jumbo double flap is in black caviar leather (grained calfskin) with silver hardware. The bag measures 19.5 × 30 × 10 cm and weighs 1187g empty. The weight of the bag combined with the items I usually carry can cause the chains on the straps to dig into the collarbone when wearing lighter clothing such as t-shirts and dresses. In autumn and winter, when I use coats, this is not an issue. 1187g is not light, but since I don’t tend to carry much, I don’t find the bag unreasonably heavy. If you prefer a lighter bag and need more space, consider getting the Jumbo single flap.
What fits inside the Jumbo?
I usually carry just an iPhone 8, Louis Vuitton Cles and sometimes my Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette (with beauty essentials). There is definitely more room for a pack of tissues, a small agenda, mints and a compact umbrella and possibly a mini iPad. The jumbo does hold more contents than a medium flap (review on the medium flap here). A more detailed comparison post on these two bags is coming soon!
How to wear the Jumbo?
I like using the Jumbo double strapped over my shoulder. I am only 1.64m, so it looks ridiculous on me crossbody (see photo below). Alternatively, it can also be used crossbody in the Gabrielle hobo bag style.

Wear and tear
I have my Jumbo for just over two years and it is still in excellent condition. There are no signs of wear on the corners, hardware or the inner double flap – no creases or lines either. I always store the bag in its dustbag, lying flat. I was asked on IG about how I protect the inner flap from chain marks; however, because my bag is in caviar leather, I, fortunately, don’t have any issues with chain indentations. I know lambskin is more prone to this and almost impossible to avoid.
Price
In the Eurozone, the Jumbo retails for €5350, in the UK £4800, in the US $6200 and in Australia AUD 8930.
My thoughts on the Chanel Jumbo
Aesthetically, I find the Jumbo flap is such a beautiful, classic Chanel bag that just oozes elegance! I also like that it can fit more than a medium flap. However, it is by no means the lightest of bags and something to take into consideration if you plan on using it for hours on end over the shoulder. Moreover, it is a big bag and not understated at all so if you are looking for something under the radar this is not really the bag I would recommend. As much as I would like to get a Jumbo flap in beige I don’t think I would purchase another as I can’t justify having another bag in a size that I only occasionally reach for.

Great review and lovely bag! I too am considering this bag but am 163 cm tall and fear it might be too large. Does it still look good with lighter, spring and summer outfits or would it be more suitable for winter wear? Another question: what size Love bracelet are you wearing in the photo above? The classic or slimmer? Thank you!

I think it looks good in all seasons regardless if one is wearing light or dark colours.
It’s the classic Love bracelet.
