Dark Neutral Shades: Outerwear

Dark neutral shades: outerwear

Over the last two-three years, I’ve been trying to “curate” a more neutral wardrobe with classic, minimal pieces. So far, I am happy with my light neutral items, but my wardrobe seems to be lacking wardrobe staples in dark neutral shades such as navy and charcoal grey. Therefore, this year and possibly next year, I would like to explore minimal foundational pieces in those shades and every now and then share them with you on my blog. I think these posts might be useful if you are also thinking of expanding your neutral colour range or you are just looking for outfit ideas in dark neutral shades.

My dark neutral shades search started in my favourite category, outerwear. Where I found this navy blue double-faced wool jacket from my favourite mid-range brand, Weekend Max Mara. I just adore the understated, relaxed aesthetic of this jacket. The large flap patch pockets in the front, the slits at the side and the martingale belt across the back add subtle masculine elements to the jacket. It is so easy to style, either dressed up with tailored trousers or casually paired down with denim jeans. Furthermore, the jacket is lightweight, so it’s great for transitioning seasons.

Details, Size and Fit

The jacket’s composition is 90% wool and 10% nylon; it is unlined and lightweight. The fit is true to size (I am wearing a UK size 4), relaxed across the shoulders and slim fit on the torso. Detailed photos and a video of the jacket in motion can be found here.

Next on my dark neutral shades: outerwear search is a long line wool or cashmere coat. I will start looking towards the end of summer or early autumn and will report back on my blog ☺ï¸

Hi, I love your style. But why do you delete all your accounts, even in Pinterest 😭

Hi Steffy! Love seeing the development of your neutrals-heavy wardrobe. Would you ever consider doing a review of your Chanel cap-toe slingback even though they are one of your older pieces? I’ve noticed them in so many of your outfits but the price tag has made it hard for me to justify purchasing them! I would be interested to know your thoughts on them. 🙂

Loving the darker shade choice. I’m on the same minimalist journey but navy didn’t occur to me before this post. Now I’m on the hunt 😉 fabulous outfit.
