I’ve only had my Hermes Birkin 25 since December, so it’s a bit early for a full-on review. Nonetheless, I still wanted to share my thoughts on it so far. For those curious, I purchased my Birkin from my local Hermes boutique. As you might know, every boutique has a system, the one I shop at works with wish lists.
Bag specifications
I have the size 25 (aka the Baby Birkin) in Gris Asphalte with palladium hardware in Taurillon Novillo leather. Novillo leather is lightweight, soft and slightly grainy. The interior of the bag is lined in Chevre.
A standard Birkin 25 measures 25 cm x 20 cm x 13 cm. The inside of the bag consists of a large compartment, a slip pocket as well as a zippered pocket. Four metal feet line the bottom of the bag.
What fits inside?

Due to the light interior, I was advised by the sales assistant to get a bag insert. I asked you all on Instagram and I read through many threads on the Purse Forum to find the ideal bag insert for me. In the end, I chose the Hermes Fourbi 20. Keeping that in mind, here’s what I carry in my Birkin 25 that contains a Fourbi 20 insert: a Louis Vuitton key pouch, Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette, Hermes Bastia coin purse and an iPhone 8.

How I wear my Birkin 25
The Birkin 25 is a top handle bag designed to be handheld. If you have slim wrists and do not use twillies, you can also get away with wearing it on your wrist. I mostly use it handheld, as shown in the photo below. For reference, I am 164cm tall.

How I store my Birkin 25?
Initially, I stored it flat in the box; however, the back of the bag towards the handles started to curve inwards because of laying down against the “pillow”. I also tried storing it without the “pillow”, but then I noticed an outline of the back zip pocket starting to form along the back of the bag 🤷🏽♀️ Now I just store it standing up in its dustbag and that seems to work just fine.
My thoughts on the bag
Overall I think the Birkin 25 is a great size if you don’t carry much around. The short handles don’t bother me; however, I can see it being impractical for someone that prefers being handsfree. I know some people find the size cutesy and toylike, but honestly, I never feel that way when I am wearing my Birkin 25. Finally, if you are only planning on getting one Birkin in your lifetime, this is probably not the perfect size, and perhaps the Birkin 30 would be a more well-rounded tote bag (not too small or too big).

This is such a beautiful and classic bag. I love the color and the size is perfect! I never used a twilly before but will do on my bags that has lighter colors.
