When building a minimalist wardrobe I believe it is important to factor in a pair or two of statement shoes in classic colours, which comes in handy for weddings, parties and other special occasions. Furthermore a pair of statement shoes instantly elevates a simple look simultaneously drawing attention to the clean lines of the outfit.
My go to statement shoes are my Valentino Rockstuds – I know these shoes have been over hyped in the past, however they have been around since 2010 and are now part of the classic line from Valentino so I think they are here to stay. When it comes to Valentino Rockstuds you either love them or hate them, what I like most about these shoes is that it easily adds edginess and elegance to even the simplest outfit and that it is available in flats, kitten heels and high heels so there is something for everyone.
My ideal shoe collection would have 15 pairs of shoes (I currently own 12 pairs of shoes of which I am planning on getting rid of a few more to make room for more classic shoes) There are only a few more shoes that I would like to add to my current collection to conclude my list with one of them being a pair of over the knee boots (been thinking about these Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots or the Hermes Jumping boots) and a nice pair of mid heeled sandals(have always had my eye on these “Jane” sandals from Saint Laurent in the 85mm heel height) and another pair of flat Hermes oran sandals in white or a pair of Chanel pearl sandals. I am also considering another pair of Valentino Rockstuds in black 🙂
How many pair of shoes do you currently own? What would be the ideal number of shoes to have in your shoe collection?

I guess that I own around 20 pairs (from flip flops to boots), which is a good number. I like the Rockstuds but I’ve been a bit reluctant about getting a pair (pumps or sandals) because they are so popular right now. I admit that I have the Rockstud booties though…

I know that I have too many shoes and a lot of them I don’t wear very often but I can’t get myself to get rid of them.
These shoes are very pretty, the colour is fantastic!

Hi, dear Steffy! I think I didn’t really understand, you mean you have 12 pairs of designer shoes or 12 pairs of designer shoes and that’s the amount of shoes you have? I only knew one woman who had 2 pairs of shoes, she was my ex-supervisor at university. I am amazed and very happy about it – I always wanted to downsize my wardrobe, but somehow I am not ready for it 🙁 One day 🙂 These Valentino rockstuds heels are impressive, they are really elegant, in any version – flats, kitten or high heels! I hope you get the black pair! Hope you have a lovely week!

Hi Denise! I have 12 shoes in total including designer shoes and non designer shoes (my hiking boots, trainers and Hunter Rain boots) – I got rid of a lot of my shoes that I was not wearing anymore and donated them to charity and gave some to my sister. I am really trying to live with less as I don’t think I need so much stuff in my life – quality over quantity 🙂

Hi Yolanda, good on you for maintaining your list and for also sticking to a 15 – 20 pairs of shoes rule. Hope you get your rockstuds soon 🙂
