Last year I posted a few classic staples in the Christmas sales, I thought I would do the same this year as I have seen quite a few Christmas deals already! I hope this post will be helpful especially if you are trying to build a more classic wardrobe for 2019.
It’s no secret I am a huge fan of Max Mara’s outerwear! Below are some of the classic styles on sale, most of which I also have.
Max Mara Burgos coat: I love this coat so much that I got it in off-white and camel, I wrote a mini post of these two coats here. Both are currently on sale here and here (sizes are limited). The red and black are also on sale.
Max Mara Diomede Wrap Coat: It is very similar to my Burgos coat just slightly more luxurious in cashmere and wool.

Max Mara Katai Coat: This is such a classic coat that I will wear for many years to come. I wrote a blog post on it here, you can find it on sale in camel here. It is also on sale in navy blue and black.
Cashmere sweaters: I just picked up the Max Mara Deborah sweater in “tan” (more beige than tan!) it also comes in grey. Every year I like to get one or two nice cashmere sweaters, they are a necessity for Swiss winters. Though not on sale I thought I would also mention the J.Crew Layla cashmere sweaters since they are at an “affordable” price point for cashmere.
Jimmy Choo Romy Pumps: These classic staples always go on sale at Christmas! They are currently on sale in camel, merlot, rose gold glitter (perfect for parties, weddings and fun nights out) and gorgeous coral pink.

I’ll keep updating this post or my Instagram stories if I find any other classic items on sale.
Okay, dramatic title aside đ if you only want to splurge on one nice coat this winter then you need to consider the Burgos coat. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know by now, that I love my light beige one so much so that I got a camel one as well! I got a second one because I like the flattering feminine cut, unbelievably soft wool (100% virgin wool) and I am a sucker for a good wrap coat.
If you prefer a more classic style, then this coat should be on top of your list. Wear it casually with jeans and loafers, dress it up for an evening out or wear it to the office with smart trousers and block heels. It comes in all the classic colours; black, beige, camel, red and blue. The black and beige are currently on sale here – sizes are limited so hurry! Most of the Max Mara sites have already sold out in the popular colours, but the beige is still available here and here, the camel is on sale here and the red is on sale here.
In terms of sizing for the beige coat, I went up a size (UK 6) so that I could layer thicker sweaters underneath and to have an oversized look overall. For the camel coat, I took my usual size (UK 4) for a more fitted look. Here they are side by side for comparison.

Mod shots of the camel coat (in photos it comes out lighter, but it’s actually a darker brown).
